Cancer

The CT scan showed the rare but distinctive presence of Pseudomyxoma Perintonei (called PMP for short). If you have the stamina for it, you can read more about Chris's cancer and the operation invented and performed by Dr. Paul Sugarbaker at the Washington Hospital Center: http://www.surgicaloncology.com/pmp.htm. Chris's case began with a rupture of a cancerous tumor in his appendix and, over many years, spread mucinous "tumors" snarling around the organs in his abdomen, eventually causing enough pressure on his system that his organs struggled to function properly.
