The Mother of All Surgeries (aka MOAS) - the 15 hour event Chris survived in May - is called something much duller and more clinical by the professionals. We hear the only surgery more complex than this is separating conjoined twins. In case you missed Dr. Sugarbaker's incredible "to do" list in a previous location, here it is again:
excise tumor
left upper quadrant peritonectomy
greater omentectomy
splenectomy
right upper quadrant peritonectomy
appendectomy
splenic flexure resection with amostomosis
rectosigmoid colon resection
small bowel resection (5 ft.)
cholecysectomy (removal of gall bladder)
lesser omentectomy
repair enterotomies
remove umbilicus
ileostomy
intraperitoneal chemotherapy
insert left and right chest tubes
excision of hemangioma on the liver
remove xyphoid bone
